Visual Arts

Staughton College offers a range of Visual Arts courses from Art, Studio Art, Visual Communication Design and Media Studies from years 7 – 12. Students can explore various methods of production and develop their skills in a creative and supportive environment.

Students are encouraged to research different artists and reflect on their own style whilst developing techniques and methods to produce art work. We encourage students to engage with our facilities including our iMac Lab, State of the Art Ceramics Kiln, Radio recording studio, printing press, photographic and studio equipment and various 2D creative resources.

During each year we hold annual events that seem to get bigger and better every year. These include excursions to Top Design, Top Arts, ACCA and the NGV. We also hold a day trip to Tasmania to visit the MONA (Museum of Old and New Art). During this trip we also visit the Salamanca Markets and the Hobart Art Gallery.

In the middle of the year we have ‘Arts Week’ where students participate in lunch time workshops all based around ‘The Arts’ subjects. Towards the end of the year we also hold our ‘Arts Showcase’ where we celebrate student success by showcasing musical acts, drama performances, media productions and visual art.

Staughton College values practical subjects which supports curriculum and helps to prepare students for career pathways in the creative Arts world.
