2018 Transition Information

Staughton College is located on Wilson Road in Melton South next to the Melton Campus of Victoria University.

All students who applied to attend Staughton College for Year 7 in 2018 should have been notified by their primary school and received an information pack from the college.

As part of the transition process into Year 7, Staughton College tests all students in Year 6. On Demand Testing provides us with valuable information regarding your child’s literacy and numeracy strengths. The information we receive from this testing helps us to determine the appropriate strategies, class groupings and education needs for your child.

Staughton is conducting On Demand testing at the College on Wednesday 11th October, Saturday the 14th of October or Wednesday the 8th of November.

All students expected at Staughton in 2018 are required to attend ONE of the testing sessions as part of their enrolment.

The tests will run for 1.5 hours. The following session times are available:

Wednesday 11th October

4:00 pm till 5:30 pm

 

Saturday 14th October

09:00 am till 10:30 am               

11:00 pm till 12:30 pm

 

Wednesday 8th November

4:00 pm till 5:30 pm

 

Students will need to bring a book to read if they finish the test earlier than the allocated time.

 

Students will need to arrive at Staughton 5 minutes before the time nominated and be picked up at the end of the session.

 

Make the booking in the name of the student to allow for smooth processing on day of test.

Year 7 Leadership Applications 2018

At Staughton College involvement in the Year 7 Scholarship Leadership Program is often considered by students to be a highlight of their school year. The program provides students with opportunities to make choices and take responsibility for their education through involvement in a wide variety of extracurricular activities. The Leadership Program aims to build connectedness and improve outcomes for students who have a genuine interest in authentic leadership roles.

Year 7 Leaders are involved in a range of school activities, and with the support of staff, build positive relationships that help to promote a positive school culture and ensure they have genuine leadership opportunities in areas they are interested in.

Any grade 6 student attending Staughton College for Year 7 in 2018 is eligible to apply for the Leadership Scholarship Program, however scholarships are not transferable to other schools. To apply, grade 6 students must complete the Year 7 Leadership Scholarship Application Form for 2018.

Applications will only be considered if submitted by Friday 22nd September. Applications will be considered by the Assistant Principal, Mr Xuereb, Year 7 Coordinator Ms Balassa, Student Leadership Leader, Mr Warhurst and Transition Coordinator, Ms Watters.

Successful applicants will receive a scholarship to pay for their Essential Education Items for 2018. Four Scholarships will be awarded.
