Parent Information Evenings


After the success of the recent Parent Support Information Evenings during Semester One, Staughton College is offering the following Parent Support Information Evenings in term 3 –

Hooked online - where do we draw the line? with Angela Clark from Catholic Care

Thursday 27th July 6:00 – 7:00 in the library

Technology can provide hours of entertainment and can aid in child development. But how much screen time is too much? These workshop are for parents wanting to know more about the benefits - and pitfalls - of technology and provides practical tips on managing their child’s screen time.

Session One - Keeping our children safe

Are you confused about the apps your kids are using? Do you feel a bit lost and left behind? This information session is developed for parents to help them become familiar with what their kids are using online. We cover;

- reducing potential cyber bullying

- understanding the different on-trend apps that kids are using

- helping kids be safe

- setting up privacy settings

- supervising rather than spying

- helpful discussions on building trusting connections

- what’s going on in the teen brain?

- plus lots of practical tips and discussions

Light refreshments and food with be provided.


Rubrics, Reports & Exam Revision

Thursday 7th September 6:00 – 7:00 in the library

All parents and guardians are invited to attend the information evening focusing on how families can support their child in their secondary schooling. Topics being covered on the evening are – understanding the use of rubrics, reporting at Staughton and how to support your child to revise for exams. This is a great opportunity for parents and guardians to find additional ways to support their child in their learning and throughout their teenage years.
